I agree it may be a 'trial and error' for a little bit in order to find my "ideal" calorie intake to loose or maintain weight but at least I have a number to "work off from".
Have a great weekend :)MaBella Vitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07802692451718321977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5287299798491768678.post-17312185703487109232013-03-30T07:04:52.202-04:002013-03-30T07:04:52.202-04:00Yes, take that 1700 and subtract about 200-300 cal...Yes, take that 1700 and subtract about 200-300 calories (depending on how fast you want to lose, but like I said it's not perfect). If you want to maintain, try to stay around 1700 calories (but, who knows, maybe 1700 really is too much. If you are eating despite not being hungry, that it's too much, and you'll gain).Gina; The Candid RDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13034788087113648183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5287299798491768678.post-29859366741795604012013-03-30T07:03:22.307-04:002013-03-30T07:03:22.307-04:00haha, I know! I think part of the reason people are so tied to the 2000 kcal number is because it shows up on nutrient labels (which, in my opinion, are outdated). I had to laugh about the Greek yogurt thing, although I've also worked with people who don't like it! I do recommend it a lot, though :)Jessiehttp://thehappinessinhealth.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5287299798491768678.post-29036597449959855962013-03-29T19:31:42.309-04:002013-03-29T19:31:42.309-04:00What a great post! I have a quick comment/question on #1—figuring out how many calories you need. I read something somewhere about calculating your BMR and then subtracting by a few hundred calories or so for weight loss. My BMR came out to 1700 ish calories and I felt that was a lot (was happily surprised) but wonder if it is true that I can go by that in order to adjust my weight loss/maintenance plans? Thanks so much for all your insightful and educational posts! I am amazed! That's WONDERFUL, ...50 people?!?!? I am amazed! That's WONDERFUL, Gina! I am happy when my group gets over 10! ;)

I love the MFP question about sugar. I get that one all the time. According to MFP, it would be impossible to eat even 1 serving of fruit daily and meet their sugar restrictions.

It was interesting to read your bread response. I've always shied away from the 35 calorie/slice breads because of all of the fillers and preservatives. But, I haven't looked at the label for one of them in years - perhaps I should! I'm guessing they've come quite a ways in quality! :)

Happy weekend!Nicole, RDhttp://preventionrd.comnoreply@blogger.com
