Ladies, please tell me I'm not the only one with a significant other who refuses to cook and who will always choose to eat out unless there is a prepared meal placed in front of him. Anyone ? Please ? You'd think by now Nick would have the motivation to prepare healthier meals for himself on nights and mornings when I'm gone....I mean, I leave fruits, veggies, healthy breads, lean proteins, and even brown rice in the fridge for his convenience. But no, he continues to go to Chipotle or Subway each and every night I'm gone. What would happen if I died? I always ask him this. He just gets sad when I say that, boo hoo.
Several weeks ago, my amazing friend Cathy presented me with a birthday gift. I had Nick model the gift for me. The very moment he put it on a light bulb turned on in his head, and he thought to himself, "I have the power to prepare meals for myself!!!"
I mean, check this thing out. When you pull the bottom half of the apron up it has all of the appropriate measurements and other cooking tips right there for you to see! If you're interested, the apron is from Delight.com.
On Sunday and Saturday mornings Nick buys breakfast about 99% of the time (I work on those mornings so the poor guy doesn't know what to do for breakfast....), but I came home for a short moment yesterday morning and Nick had made this egg sandwich (below). I was speechless! Not only did it look beautiful, but it was actually quite healthy!
100% whole wheat bagel + 2 eggs + almond milk + nitrate-free bacon + reduced fat cheddar cheese
He even had an orange with this!!
QUESTION: Have you ever seen such an awesome kitchen apron before?! Do you have a significant other who may benefit from its amazing powers?!
Now THAT is a cool apron!
ReplyDeletethat apron is awesome! and i love the egg sandwich. I know what you mean. my hubby is a great cook, but when i'm gone it usually means he goes to chipotle as well :)
ReplyDeletethat's a cute apron!
ReplyDeleteI have a husband who relies 100% on my cooking to have homemade meals and I'm happy to do that for him.
That's such a cute idea! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLuckily I don't have that problem...Ryan is always trying to help out in the kitchen...which is sometimes nice, and sometimes SUPER annoying :-)
What an awesome apron! When I'm out Cory usually ends up picking up food even though we have a refrigerator full of food that can be cooked.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! We could use a magic apron up in here too :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the apron!!! I want one!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is pretty bad about making food when I'm not around, but he is getting better. It has taken a LONG time to get to this point!!!! I think the older he gets, the more he realizes that it's best to eat at home most of the time so that he is in control of what he eats...
Haha the magic apron! Too funny :). I think he’s learning a lot from you!
ReplyDeletehaha whatever it takes Gina!
ReplyDeleteHow creative of someone to think of this apron!
ReplyDeleteOMG, this is perfect!! my hubs is the same way. If he has his way he'll jsut eat out every meal unless I physically cook something and put it on the table. Im thinking I need that apron pronto!
ReplyDeletehahahaha i love the guys at work because unless their wives pack their lunches there is no way they're bringing it! guys spend SO much money on food its insane! even if theres a fridge jam packed with food my dad will always pick something up on the way home from the pool if my mom isnt home! what would they do without us. but nick should probably make you that sammie next weekend and also he should know that just in case anything happens he always has a job at a deli! hahaha
ReplyDeleteHaha that apron is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you can prepare all of Nick's meal- Eric will pretty much not eat anything I cook (not cuz I'm that terrible- we just have such different taste in food, aka he does not like my healthy stuff). He makes everything himself, but he would prob eat out way more often if I let him haha.
Wow that is a cool apron! It's like a wearable cooking cheat sheet, ha.
ReplyDeleteI love that apron. I've got to hunt one down. I have a husband who could use an apron like that too.
ReplyDeleteKristi
I want that apron!!!! I think Nik will enjoy it lol
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that the apron has those powers. Lucky for me Ryan cooks and enjoys it. His best friend from childhood and him used to cook as kids. Impressive for 2 teenage boys but they really did. His friend went on to culinary school and works as a chef and has his own catering business. So Ryan was lucky to have a friend growing up who was that interested in cooking.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly nick works in a restaurant, and as someone who has worked in a restaurant for years I can tell you the feeling really is to go out and eat. Not only do you feel comfortable but you are waiting for someone to take care of you instead of you taking care of someone. Now, if I am totally thinking of someone else's boyfriend, oops, and never mind.
Now that's one cool apron! Men are motivated by strange things :)
ReplyDeleteI think my husband would probably just not eat very much if I didn't cook for him as often. He doesn't really buy much food out... Except for that Safeway Mac n cheese. Gets him everytime!
Cool apron. You should be proud of NIck that he chooses to go to Chipotle and Subway, instead of other fast food joints. As for my husband he is not a big fan of eating outside, weird I know!
ReplyDeleteThat is a GREAT apron! Jason likes to cook, but he dirties SO MANY pans!!!
