Annoyingly In Love

Thanks so much for all of your wonderful juice suggestions on my last post. Some of your juice creations were so creative! I can't wait to try them. The sad thing is that many of the fruits you mentioned contain FODMAPs, but I can still use some of your ideas to create some FODMAP free juices.

Remember me telling you that Nick and I were going somewhere local for a delicious 6 course dinner, at a GREAT price?! It was awesome!

There were six courses, including an Amuse Bouche (bite-sized appetizer) and a pre-dinner homemade raspberry gelato for cleansing the pallet.

The steak was one of the best parts of the meal, even though I didn't even order it. I ordered the salmon, which was also amazing, but the picture wasn't blog-worthy. The steak, which was lovingly shared with me by Nick, melted in my mouth. Who wouldn't enjoy a steak wrapped in bacon? It was outstanding.

Of course the great company was the best part of the evening...

Seriously, after five years I'm even more in love with Nick than I could have ever imagined (sorry, so disgustingly annoying, I know). Everyone keeps asking "when are you guys getting married?!". My answer continues to be, "whenever we feel like it". We're basically already married, having lived together for the past four years, we just need to make it "official". Last night we did discuss the topic, and I think next year will likely be the year.

Ok, back to the food. Aside from the amazing appetizer, gelato, steak, and salmon, the best part of the meal was the bananas foster. What can I say? I have a major sweet tooth. The goodness (and extra butter) of this dish made up for the fact that chocolate wasn't involved.

Can you imagine bananas fried in butter and loads of brown sugar?

Served over a stick of butter.

haha, no, not butter, but it looks like butter, right? It's actually vanilla bean ice cream. This was the best dessert I have had in a very, very long time. I ate every last bite of it, and was even tempted to finish what Nick didn't eat, but I listened to my stomach telling me to "stop! you're full!" and watched the waitress whisp his remaining dessert away.....

I left about 5 pounds heavier, but 2 glasses of wine happier ;)

QUESTION: What was the best dessert you have ever had?

  1. Sounds like a great Valentine's Day! I'm always partial to chocolate, and believe it or not, our wedding cake was one of the most amazing things I've tasted, but there's a carrot cake at a restaurant in my hometown that is absolutely incredible! Has to be the best dessert I've ever had.

  4. I've had way to many amazing desserts to list one as my favorite. I love dessert!

I seriously thought those bananas were served over a stick of butter which did not sound appetizing to me ;) However, eating them over ice cream sounds very yummy!

Looks like you guys had a great night!

  5. Im glad Im not the only one with a major sweet tooth. If I let myself I can go a whole day just eating sugar! But anyways, whatever you had looks quite amazing. I think the best dessert I ever had was a red velvet cupcake from starbucks. Simple. I know. But I still have dreams about it…lol…it was so good Im afraid to have it again. Haha

  6. you look happy, you soun happy... I'm soo happy for you both!!! What a great couple! And I totally feel the same about living with Star... the more years we are together, I feel luckier to have him in my life and can't imagine to do it with anyone else. Isn't this feeling amazing?

best dessert? mmmmmm..... the chocolate shouffle that I had on our anniversary. I felt sick afterwards because I ate the whole thing alone which is rare for me and got a sugar hike but it was sOOO GOOD!

I didn't celebrate Vday this year (well... not the last four either) but I did make some chocolate dessert for me. :)

    Wedding next year? Congratulations!!!!!

  7. Such a beautiful couple! I'm glad you are so happy together. So many people rush marriage because they want the wedding or are in love with the idea of marriage. Much different than wanting the actual marriage.

Favorite dessert???? There are so many! Buy you can't go wrong with a fudgey brownie...with peanut butter...and ice cream!!

  8. Woah...totally thought that was butter. Fav dessert is creme brulee or bread pudding, which is basically a pot of cream and sugar so really not far off from a stick of butter!

  19. Oh, my goodness, that banana dessert looks AMAZING! I love making grilled bananas at home and putting them on my oatmeal!

The best dessert I've ever had would have to be my old standby, dark chocolate fondue at the melting pot. It never gets old, and every time I have it, it's even more delicious than I remembered!

  21. I typically roll my eyes when it comes to lovey-dovey stuff, but I have to admit, this post made me smile (while rolling my eyes). Your love for Nick is so evident, and it's just so clear that you guys fulfill each other. :-)

  24. Awww, that's so sweet!! I think it's wonderful that you can see yourself more in love with Nick than ever :) It really is the little things in life! And your wedding will be all the better since it's been so long coming. A wedding is just a day, you guys have had the love for a long time and that's what makes a relationship last, not the legality of it. :) P.S. I really thought that was a stick of butter at first!!!!!!!
